Asheville Adventure Elopement: Creating An Incredible Experience

When planning for your Asheville adventure elopement, the question that is on many people’s minds is how much coverage do we need?  A better question might be how much Elopement coverage do we want?  Some people just want the bare minimum amount of coverage for their Asheville adventure elopement, but what are they missing out on?  I recently did an interview with Becca and Katie Lowry, former clients of mine who decided to do our full day adventure elopement photography package, NOMAD.  They told me exactly why they decided to have full day adventure elopement coverage and why it was the perfect choice for them.  Is it right for you?

Asheville Adventure Elopement Full Day Coverage: NOMAD

You have a unique opportunity before you.  Perhaps this is the most unique opportunity of your entire life.  You have a single day to choose how you want to start this adventure with the person you love the most.  Don’t squander it like I did.  My wife and I very much did what OTHERS wanted and what would make THEM happy. We never stopped to ask the question, what do WE WANT for OUR wedding day?  If we could do it all over, we will get some plane tickets, go somewhere epic, and create the most memorable day we could think of.  Be selfish.  That’s right, be selfish on your elopement day.  This is YOUR day and you get to decide.  If you could create one magical day and do anything, what would that look like?  Well, freaking do it then!!

Your Vision For Your Asheville Adventure Elopement

We pride ourselves on making your vision a reality.  For each individual couple that can look entirely different.  It is not our goal to force our vision upon you, but to listen to what you uniquely want, and to make that vision come to life.  We took Becca and Katies’s vision for their elopement and created an incredible COLLABORATION and an amazing EXPERIENCE.

Katie shared, “We are adventurous people as well. So it really fit our lifestyle having an adventure elopement full day package. We really went on a few pretty big adventures that most people wouldn’t get to do. When we envisioned our wedding day, finding somebody that had the same vision was hard, and I think you kind of envisioned it with us.  You helped us create that dream day.”  Creating someone’s dream day is all about listening.  It’s about hearing what it is that is special to the couple, and bringing that to life.

Listening is the secret sauce to creating amazing elopement experiences for couples.  When we listen, that is where we find out exactly what makes a couple tick.  We understand how to create experiences that truly reflect what is important to a couple.  Becca had this to say about her Asheville adventure elopement experience.  “I really appreciated that whenever we would meet with you via FaceTime or talk on the phone, you would REALLY listen to us.  You listened to our ideas, and then you made everything that we envisioned a reality. We had these grand ideas of exactly how adventurous we wanted to be and that happened because you literally took our image and made it a reality. And the fact that we gelled the way that we did it was just perfect.”

Adventure Looks Different to Everyone: Your Adventure Elopement Experience

There is so much more value wrapped up in what we offer than simply showing up on your elopement day and clicking a button.  We are crafting an incredible experience that will leave you clamoring for more.  We want your elopement experience to be uniquely your own.  You are not ordinary and you do not fit into a pre prescribed box.  You are unique and it is our goal to capture that uniqueness.  Your “different” is what makes you beautiful.

So what does your perfect adventure elopement look like?  Perhaps it is riding in a hot air balloon and drinking your favorite wine.  Maybe it’s kayaking, rock climbing, or canoeing in this amazing wild area of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  You may be more into comics or books and coffee.  We can share that side of you and tell that unique story.  The best images are created by capturing what is most meaningful and sentimental to your relationship.  We’ve had couples do everything from brewery beer crawls to skinny dipping in the wild.  We are here to serve you and to help you truly come alive.

What Is An Adventure Elopement?

An adventure elopement is when you and your partner make the decision to decide exactly what your dream wedding looks like.  You don’t have to be confined to a rigid timeline, loads of money on food and alcohol, or a big production.  You can just be yourselves and create the most amazing and intimate day possible.  The only limit to the day is your imagination. Just because you are eloping, doesn’t mean you are cheap.  It means you know what you want.  Adventure elopements are geared towards the wild at heart who value experiences over possessions, who feel the most alive in nature.

Having an Asheville adventure elopement allows you the flexibility and freedom to experience culture, amazing breweries, and the most amazing views on the east coast.  You saved a shit-ton of money by eloping.  I mean, think of all that money that was going to go towards feeding all those people.  It’s thousands of dollars.  Take that budget and put it towards an incredible wedding experience where you don’t hold back whatsoever.

What About Elopement Video Coverage? Should We Get That?

 Here’s your answer.

How Much Coverage Do I Need?

How much adventure elopement coverage do we need?  If you are wanting the most memorable day, it likely won’t happen just by “getting it done.”  You have to put in the work.  Actually, I take that back.  We put in the hard work, and you get to enjoy the fruits of our labor.  Marriage is hard work, and so is planning a wedding.  We are here to take off some of that load and to guide you on the most amazing day of your life.

If you had one day to have the most amazing and unforgettable experience, what would you do?  You are eloping, which means you get to do whatever the hell you want.  You get to spend the whole day with your Beloved, so freaking do it.  Sweep each other off your collective feet.  Show each other what you want the rest of your lives to look like together.  Do you want to kick this marriage off with a fireworks or Snap n’ Pops?  I know what I would choose.

Why Would I Want Full Day Coverage?

Why would you want full day adventure elopement coverage?  The simple answer is, BECAUSE YOU CAN.  One thing that many couples fail to realize is how quickly the time goes by.  There are so many intricate moments to be captured.  Allow those moments room to breathe.  Don’t smother the moments by feeling rushed to go do the next thing.  Almost anything worth doing takes time.  Fear of missing out is a real thing.  I will tell you here that you will definitely miss out by having minimal elopement coverage.  You will miss out on things like capturing the first look.  Experiencing multiple locations will not be possible. Breathable moments of genuine connection will be much harder to come by.

With Becca and Katie’s full day Asheville adventure elopement, they were able to experience multiple locations.  We went on 3 separate hikes, all of which were rated HARD by the National Park Service.  These women were up for the challenge because they knew that adventure is important to them.  We were able to see waterfalls, go to caves, experience cliffs and amazing views.  Therefore, if you have less elopement coverage, you are only getting a sliver of the buffet that is before you.

Will You Be Photographing The Entire Time?

The simple answer to this question is, NO.  If I’m not actively shooting, it’s not because I’m slacking off.  Often if I am not photographing, it is deliberate.  I want you to connect with each other in a super meaningful way.  I do not want to be so much in your business, or “directing” the day, that you miss out on each other.  You are eloping, which means less noise, less stress, and more intentionality.  If the light is just right, or there is a super cool spot to pull off and grab some shots, we will do that.  Having ample time allows for flexibility.  If you have limited coverage, there will be limits to what we can do with our time together.

One of my favorite things about full day elopement coverage is that there are breathable moments.  There are times where I just step away, and let the two of you have some of those intimate beautiful moments together where we’re not taking photos.  Just because you’re hiring an elopement photographer for the entire day does not mean that they are snapping pictures from sunup to sundown.

Firstly, you will come away with MANY amazing images, but you will also be allowed to feel like you genuinely connected with your partner.  Secondly, you also get to be part of the creative process.  Therefore, if you see a shot you want, or like a specific view, we generally have the time to take advantage of your creative ideas as well.  It’s a win, win.

Should We Do a First Look?

Most definitely!  Of course you should do a first look.  When will you ever again have the experience of seeing your partner in their wedding attire looking amazing?  Most likely never.  Having that moment captured allows you to be transported back to just how amazing you felt.  It will remind you why this all means so much.  Why your love, your relationship, your adventure together matters.  Becca and Katie had the most adorable first look in which they both cried as they saw each other in their wedding dresses for the first time.  They shared hand written cards and had a moment of teary eyed laughter.

What Apparel Should We Wear?

Look your absolute best.  Just because we are going on a wild adventure in the woods, doesn’t mean we don’t want to look PROPER.  Fellas, throw on a suit and grab some Clark’s and let’s do this.  I have seen some really cool looks with leather suspenders and a collared button up (white, black, grey, or earth toned).  Additionally, there are some dope vests that you can rock with a tie or bow tie.  Here are some simple options (I will get a monetary kickback if you use these links).  However, these are all products I have purchased and used myself.

Black Balsam

Max Patch

Craggy Gardens

We will be hiking and playing in the woods.  Your wedding dress will get dirty.  It comes with the territory.  You can either embrace it, or stress out about it.  You seem like the type to simply embrace the full experience.  I suggest you bring good hiking shoes.  Additionally it’s nice to have Chacos or Crocs in a pack in case we need to cross a creek or if you just want to dip your toes in the water.  If you have nice wedding shoes, you can bring them for ceremony, or for some of the creative shots.

What Should We Pack for Our Asheville Adventure Elopement?

I recommend bringing a pack of  some sort that you can throw snacks in.  Jerky, protein bars, and fruit are some of the most sustainable snacks to keep you from getting hangry.  Also, WATER IS SUPER IMPORTANT.  Having plenty of water throughout the day is a must.  If you have a pack that has a pouch for a hydration bladder, like a Camelbak, then rock that.  It’s important to be able to access good clean water at any point throughout the day.  I Also suggest packing a cooler with some bottled water, snacks, and 2 meals (lunch and dinner).

Additionally, we will want to stay energized so we will need good sustainable energizing food.  Here are some good things to pack: salads, lunch meat, sandwiches, avocado, boiled eggs, egg salad, PBJ (if you want to kick it old school), bananas, apples, carrots, cucumber, cheese sticks, and anything with some caffeine.  I like to have a tea/coffee time around 1 or 2pm.  I have a JetBoil and we can boil up some water for some afternoon tasty beverages and relaxation.  However, we will remember best Leave No Trace Practices while we are out in the wild.  Basically we will leave nature the way we found it.

Conclusion

I think it might have been Uncle Scar who said it best, BE PREPARED!!  We will come up with an outline for the day.  You will want to have loads of food and water.  We will have a plan, but we will also remain flexible.  And that is the beauty of full day adventure elopement photography coverage in Asheville.  You get to choose your destiny and you get to decide just how EPIC your day is.  Perhaps 8 plus hours isn’t for you.  However, I would tell you to ask yourself a couple of questions:

Do we want variety and multiple epic locations?

How much do we value our wedding day and each other?

Do we want to have a day without limitations or do we want to just get it done?

We would love to guide you on this process.  Simply fill out the contact form below, and we will get you set up to plan your dream elopement in Asheville, North Carolina, or wherever you decide to elope.  You’ve Got This!!  And we have your back.  Happy Adventuring Homies!

I used to live in North Carolina, almost 12 years ago now, and never even thought about checking out Asheville! Man, did I ever miss out?! This is a fantastic article about eloping there, and if I weren’t already married, I would totally elope there! (Maybe a perfect Vow Renewal location eh?)

Yes, a vow renewal would be perfect here. My wife and I are actually wanting to do the same. I think we are going to head out west for our renewal. Cheers.
