What Is A Family Adventure Session?
As an Asheville family photographer, I am constantly looking for ways to spice things up. Kids do not want to stand in front of a camera and smile. Children do however love adventure, wonderment, and curiosity. What is an adventure session? An adventure is an unusual and exciting experience or activity. Kids long for adventure and they love living in the moment. If the “moment” is to stand here and say cheese, kids will want nothing to do with it. So what does an adventure look like? Well, put your helicopter propellors away and allow the kids to just be themselves. Play with them, have fun with them. Tickle your kids and give them lots of kisses. Play little games and dance with your kids. Allow your children to explore. If they want to throw rocks in the pond, let them do it. If they want to climb a tree, assist them or jump up there with your child. Part of the process of an adventure session is being present and mindful in the moments we get to experience with our children. These little humans have an amazing ability to really live in the moment. As adults we are constantly thinking about our responsibilities, due dates, work, stress. This is a time to simply be and to really relish the amazing people your kids are.
